I thought i'd share a project I made for my craft room last night. I've had this problem with a place to display cards in my craft room, well actually the problem was that I didn't have a place to display them. I needed a stand that I could use to keep cards I needed to reference. Here is a simple stand I came up with and it cost me less than 3 dollars.
First I started out two yard sticks which hubby cut in half for me. Then I grabbed some dictionary pages, glue and paint. I probably would have used decopauge but I couldn't find it, I know I have some around here.
I didn't want the Lowe's logo or other junk on the bottom of the yard stick so I came up with the idea to cover the bottom half with some torn dictionary pages. I brushed on some glue and layed down the torn up pages. Its ok if they overhang because when they were all dry I used a sanding block on the edges and it cut right though the paper, making a clean edge.
Then I didn't like the blue paint on the yardstick either. I used some brown paint and painted over the whole thing and removed all the excess with a towel.
Next up the clips... there was no way I was going to try to paint a clothes pin so I mixed up some distress ink in a spray bottle and just sprayed them. It worked pretty well.
Last up, I hot glued the clothes pins to the yard stick. I made two as card stands with the clips pointing up, and two with clips that point down to hand cards (I attached those to the wall). Here's the finished project.
It wouldn't be any fun without some new cards to show off my new stand so I made these up.
Ok... now for yesterdays winner... Congrats goes to Wendy who said
"Have to say cutesy all the way..........." Wendy, shoot me an email with your mailing address and i'll get your card right out to you.
And I totally forgot to mention that all the supplies I used for yesterdays and many of the supplies for the cards in today's post came from THIS KIT .
