Happy Memorial Day

Turns out everyone but me was sick at one point or another this weekend. Which made for lots of work time for me.

Yesterday I got Kylah all set for summer. We weeded through her clothes and bathing suits. Out with the old and torn up and too small. She has mostly the first two... she doesn't outgrow too many things. Then it was in with the new... We hit the mother load with hand me down shorts from big sis. Then we hit the store with a small shopping list of tank tops, a couple of bathing suits and some new flip flops. I didn't even have to lose my temper and yell like a crazy mom in the dressing room this season. That was cool! One girl down and the hard one to go!

Since Friday i've been working on these fun projects for Sizzix with the new "soon to be released" birthday exclusive dies. I hope you're not seeing anything top secret here :) but if you are lucky you!

Tonight we're having a BBQ with some neighbors. Looking forward to hubby's famous burgers. If you like hot and spicy then you'd love them.

Frowns and Smiles

things are really up in the air for us this long weekend...

Niguel and hubby are sick... Frown

Hubby is helping his brother pack up and get on his way to move to Washington. We are so happy for them and their fresh start but sad they will be away from us... Smiles and Frowns at the same time.

The girls have lost three teeth (and three more loose ones) in the last week. Frowns... means they are still growing up despite my efforts to keep them small. Not to mention the tooth fairy is broke!

We have a new baby in the family... My Cousin Eric and his wife Josie welcomed a new baby boy. Welcome Lev! Smiles for their family and for the day we can meet him in person... Frowns that they live in Ukraine, so far away.

But the weather is absolutely perfect outside. Big Smiles... i'm off to enjoy it! I'll leave you with a new picture of the girls together. Maybe losing teeth is a good thing... we need to get some braces :).

Monday night was the finale of American Idol and Biggest Loser and Dancing with the Stars (I didn't watch that one). I love the first two mentioned shows because I LOVE to see people achieve their dreams. I love it!

Card Give Away Day

It's been a while since my last card give away. Honestly I had to catch up mailing out the ones I had given away.

Yesterday I was having lunch when the mail man pulled up delivered a package from my friend Cathy. Hmmmmm... I wondered what it was. Sweet!... scrapbooking supplies. Thanks so much Cathy for thinking of me. Proof that if you nurture a friendship for 30 years someday you'll get scrapbooking supplies in the mail.

We can all thank Cathy for the super cute embellishments on this card today.

While I was away, she was away...

at 6th grade camp... Thank god I was away for two of the 4 days she was gone to camp. My Mom took these pictures for me... She's a good Mom. She knew just what I would be doing. Taking pictures and crying. My Mom probably didn't cry.

 
Her teacher told me that they would come back changed. More grown up, more independent, more of their own person. Ummmm.... No thanks I want exactly the same girl I sent. You can see here that her sister was really sad to see her go and have her Grandma all to herself for a couple of days.

Friday afternoon I stalked the school parking lot, waiting for the bus... called the office for an ETA... and finally I got my big hug from my little girl and we were reunited, just like we should be.

Good news is she is just exactly as wonderful as she was when she left. And even better news is that she had a great time.

I was feeling so good this weekend that my brood was all back home in our nest together.

Finally Back to Blogging

Sorry that i've been neglecting my blogging. Technology just isn't so dependable on the road.

I've looked at these pictures about 10 time thinking about all the awesome antiques we saw in down town Charlotte. Some of them I wanted really really bad, and some of them I could just appreciate. Sensibility took over when I realized that I would have to ship this home or seriously pay off the baggage person at the airport. Didn't bring one thing home.

Above... I came closest to buying these blue mason jars, the color just made me smile! Signs on a fence at our lunch spot (which was delicious and at least 3000 calories). A cradle, so sweet... but I would need another baby to make it practical (and thats not happening). I could do oh so many things with this cubby.

Above... This building was to die for, had the most awesome light near the windows. I didn't think I could go another day without this rolling cookie cutter, but it turns out i'm fine without it. Hubby was into the signs and coke machines, whoops duplicate picture :). Loving old bottles, wouldn't you know today I have the perfect idea for them (a day late as usual).

 

Cool Cool muffin tins. Snack set loved it.  Amazing windows in the building. Shot of the exterior, it was an old textile mill. Can't get enough of these old milk bottles.

More to come of the trip... but I've got to go get some hugs. We are an only child house for one more night. Niguel comes home from camp tomorrow.
 
 

Another Update from NC

Went to the Biltmore Estate today... Sipmly awesome. Loved it...

Still can't load pictures, I think my cable went bad... Sad! But when I get home I will post for sure.

All is well in NC

First let me share the one and only picture that I took on my camera at this whole event. For some reason we only used Stephs camera... will share those when she emails them to me.

So here it is... They have the most fantastic soap in NC... It reminds you to... well read it!

The whole event has been super awesome and my head is exploding with creative ideas. I can't wait to get home and pull out the sketch book and get to work in the craft room. Its hard being away from my supplies when I am feeling so inspired.

Steph left this morning... pretty sure she is in Texas by now and praying that she doesn't get stuck there.

Hubby has been stuck in Texas for I think like 20 hours (for reals). He finally got off the ground this morning and should be touching down here in NC as I type this. I'll be so happy to see him... He told me last night he was considering turning around and going home. Aaaarrrrgggg. Rough start to our vacation.

Antiquing tomorrow in downtown Charlotte! YEAH...
 

Tired

We made it... fell asleep at 2 am our time and woke up at 4 am NC time. I think I got up before I went to bed... not sure. First class in 2 hours, so excited and looking forward to it through very red eyes!
