Monday Again...

First post in a week... always mean to come back sooner... always get busy with kids and just getting everything done in a day...always fall asleep before I get to blogging. Starting to think I may have to do a whole week of blogging on Sunday night since it seems the only night I get to it.

Here's a little project I did for my girls for Easter... feel free to bookmark it for next year :) Of course I saw a version of this on pinterest and my friend Debi made a version too. Here's mine... just some powdered doughnuts.

New Kits in the Shop

So happy we've got two new kits in the shop. This is our first addition to the shop. We have sure enjoyed all the kind words and orders we've been receiving. Our Easter kits are always popular and we love this one with the vintage style bunnie cards. This new notecard set combines all my favorites, antique newsprint and bright colors. Card Give Away Day

It's been a while since my last card give away. Honestly I had to catch up mailing out the ones I had given away.

Yesterday I was having lunch when the mail man pulled up delivered a package from my friend Cathy. Hmmmmm... I wondered what it was. Sweet!... scrapbooking supplies. Thanks so much Cathy for thinking of me. Proof that if you nurture a friendship for 30 years someday you'll get scrapbooking supplies in the mail.

We can all thank Cathy for the super cute embellishments on this card today.

Oh Baby Baby

Made the super easy and cute embellished baby onesies for Sizzix this week.

These dies (the flip flop, popsicle, and strawberry) aren'tbeing released till May but you can do the same thing with any die you have. Just iron on some fusible web on the back side of some fabric, cut it out and iron it on to the onesie.

Then just add some machine stitching and some fabric glitter (to cover up your lack of sewing skills).

Lastly hand stitch on a bow.

We are so lucky to be expecting a new baby boy in our family in about a month. I think I may need to make up some of these him in some boy designs for him. So excited for his arrival, just wishing he was here and not in the Ukraine.

Easter Mini Kits

Making plans

for Easter projects today. Started to pull out some supplies and goodies i've been collecting. I feel a mini kit coming on. I sure wish I felt spring coming on just as much.

Sneak Peak

at some things i've been working on... check back tomorrow for the reveal of these cute little flowers. They'll be offered in a mini card kit full of pink green and touches of black. about using die-cuts! Here's what I can tell you, I barely touched a die-cut before I started designing for Sizzix. Now I have been shown the light and can't believe the things you can do with die cuts. I {heart}them! I've decided to make this a regular posting feature because there are just to many things you can do with your die cuts. In the coming weeks you'll see lots of information on die-cuts coming your way. For today i'll start with the basics, layering colors to embellish.

Start by cutting your die-cut in several colors. Remember pattern down if you are cutting patterned paper.

Use up your scraps you don't have to cut the whole die, only the pieces you want. See how the top of the die is missing.

Pick one color to build on / for a base. I usually pick the color that makes the most sense to be on the back layer. In this case I picked green and will cover everything but the leaves and swirls.

Cut away pieces of the different colors. Here I have already cut away the pink heart and attached it to my base layer. Then I cut apart all the yellow, orange and pink flowers.

Here are all the colors layered on the base.

Now put your die on your project and add any other embellishments you want. Here I added little contrasting circle centers, rhinestones, pearls, paint and chalk on the green and the heart.

There you have it... once you do a couple it really does go very quickly.

Mother's Day

My blog reader friend Suzanne wanted some ideas for Mother's Day. Here's what i'm doing for all my favorite mothers. I have something else planned for my Mom but I know lots of good mothers out there and now I have gifts for them. While I was at Target I spied these cool looking Boxes of Soap. They were in the regular soap aisle, they were 2.88 for a 2 pack. They came in several scents, I picked vanilla cherry blossom. Came home pulled out the scrap box. Cut some paper 8 1/2x 3 1/4, wrapped it around the soap box and attached it with double sided tape. Then I grabbed some ribbon and buttons and stuck them on. Punched out a few tags from the reverse side of the pattern paper I used and stamped it Happy Mothers Day. If you don't have a stamp, just print something on your computer, if you don't have a computer then i'm sure you have beautiful hand writing. Well I guess if you didn't have a computer you wouldn't be reading this, you get what I mean... use anything you have. And if you're doing this with kids like Suzanne wants to, i'd show them how to wrap the paper around and then throw a bunch of stuff (anything you have) out on the table and let them go for it! Oh, how about cutting plain paper, let them draw/color on it and then wrap it around the soap. The possibilities are endless. Here's mine... and I made a quick card from scraps too!
