Hands down my favorite card from the new June Card Kit. I've been drawing alot and painting and working on some custom art to partner with my monthly card kits. These little birdies are currently always on my sketch pad. I have them in every color of the birdie rainbow.

I mentioned last week that my baby was promoted from Jr. high last week. It seems like just yesterday I dropped this little one off at preschool and I cried everyday for the first month and she cried every day for the second month.
Please allow me to brag for a moment... I'm one proud mommy. She was awarded the Principals Honor roll for achieving a 4.0 GPA for all two years of jr. high.
She is funny and sweet and kind and generous. She is intense and hard on herself and driven and controlling. It's almost harder to parent this girlie because she is so grown up. I'm always encouraging her to not worry, to let things go... to be a young girl and not worry about things only grown ups should worry about.
Parenting is hard and usually i'm so sad to see these milestones come and go. I cry and cry for weeks at the mere mention of a graduation or sometimes even a birthday. It's usually Niguel that gets me, she paves the way and all these milestones are new. One year later when Kylah passes these same milestones I'm not nearly as emotional. Could be that i've done it and know what to expect but mostly there is much more of a "whew we made it" associated with it.
Things are changing for me now. I hardly cried this past week and I had a graduation and a birthday! I can feel the tides changing. I'm not so sad and i'm starting to feel more excited for all the things to come. Excited to see how these girls lives unfold and how they soar. I'm excited to see how all this hard work of parenting works out. I'm thinking its going to be amazing!

Wow, time is flying by fast this past week. We've had a birthday, there are now two teenage girlies in my house! Pray for me. We had a 8th grade graduation... So proud of my girl who got the Principals Honor Roll Award for a perfect 4.0 GPA all throughout Jr. High! We are having an anniversary, 15 years! My brother and family are moving away to Arkansas. We have been visiting with my Cousin and his family who are here from Ukraine and all my projects for Sizzix are packed up and heading to Chicago for CHA. And if anything else has happened I missed it.
I grabbed a bunch of scraps from my bin and made this Graduation card and Birthday card for my girls. Love the coordinating look and how I got away with one sentiment.

Just when school is getting ready to get out for the kids I'm gearing up to teach a whole slew of classes both online and in stores. Today I wanted to share two things i've tried off of Pinterest lately. These two things worked brilliantly and should be shared!
First up is wrapping your lettuce or celery in foil. This I thought sounded kind of weird but I was desperate to find a solution for wilted browned lettuce. I made tacos one night last week and wrapped the rest of the head of lettuce in foil and never got to it for another week. It was perfect, crisp and fresh! I thought it would taste all metallic but it didn't. My grocery budget will be singing praises for this tip for a long time to come.
Three weeks ago I had a sore throat. One of the worst i've ever had and it was annoying and coming on when I just didn't have time to be out of commission (who ever has time for that). I referred to pinterest and found this solution. Mix honey, garlic and cayenne pepper. Eat 1/2 teas every half hour. I did it for about 7 hours straight. It was hot but didn't taste repulsive like I thought it would. To me it tasted like if you were to eat chipolte seasoning straight up. It was totally worth it, my sore throat was gone that evening and never came back! From what I read the honey coats the throat and the cayenne pepper increased blood flow to the area for healing and the garlic helps combat any bacteria in the throat. I could really care less what it does or how it does it as long as it worked and it did! So happy!!!
Oh, I also tried the old stand by of gargling with warm salt water but this sore throat was way to big for that simple solution. I also tried taking a dose of apple cider vinegar, that was pure gross, also a little bit like swallowing fire! Stick to the above treatment. So much better.
Thats it so far, I have a least 200 pins of things to try and i'll let you know when I try them and how they turn out. Have a great week!

A few weeks ago I finished up the May kits and while I was doing it I took a little time to photo document everything it takes to make my monthly card kits. You can read all about part 1 HERE.
After all the cards are designed I start making all the pieces... Lots and lots of die cutting, punching, stamping and cutting everything to size. Sometimes My beauty of a daughter sits and talks with me sometimes and she has been known to cut a few things for me :)
All the little buttons, rhinestones and tiny pieces are sorted.
And somewhere around half way trrough when I think I can't cut one more piece I take a break and photo all the cards. Here is the backdrop I made with cardboard and paint stir sticks. I grab a couple props too.
My little daughter (who is going to be a teenager next week :/ ) is really good at this step. Putting all the little pieces in baggies.
Tons of ribbon, twine, floss and seam binding go in to my kits and every single little piece has to be cut! This is one of the tasks I make sure I do... I'm a stickler for quality control!
Finally all the parts and pieces are cut and ready to go to kitting! Phew!

This is always a milestone every single month. Total satisfaction that another months kit is in the bag! And guess what... as soon as I finish its time to do it all again!
And after all that I still have to do all the behind the scenes on the website, blog and business kind of stuff. All the while loving every minute that I get to do something I love... BE CREATIVE... every single day and I get to help others get in touch with their personal creativity!
